Model 65 A – The standard equipment package found on all 1964 1/2 Mustangs included three-speed manual transmission with floor shift, front bucket seats, padded instrument panel, full wheel covers, cloth and vinyl or all-vinyl upholstery, color-keyed carpeting, Sports steering wheel, cigarette lighter, door courtesy lights, glove box light, as well as heater and defroster. The initial base powerplants were the 170 CID I-6 or the 260 CID V-8. In the fall of 1964, the 200 CID I-6 or the 289 CID V-8 became the standard powerplants.
The convertible came with the following base before options.
