Super Rare Mustangs

1970 Mustang Mach 1 Twister

In 1984 Ford came out with two unique Mustangs

The GT 350 and the 4-cylinder Turbo made by SVO (predecessor to SVT)

1984 Mustang Special Edition Anniversary GT 350

Available as either a hatchback or convertible, and buyers could opt for a 5.0 liter 4 barrel V8, matched to a 5 speed transmission, a 5.0 liter throttle body (Central fuel injection ) engine, twinned to the automatic and the 2.3 liter inline 4 cylinder with sequential fuel injection and turbocharger.. It did not include a major design change as some expected with only some subtle additions to the Ford Mustang’s styling being made. Neither the 350 or the SVO had any real HP or Torque. But they are collectors.

The SVO came with a turbo charged 2.3 liter. I really liked the hood and test drove one in 2024. It just did not have the power for the Dallas Fort Worth roads

1985 Mustang Twister II

The 1985 Mustang Twister was sold in the Kansas City District.  They only made 90 of them and the had the same 302 with 210 HP but the difference from standard Mustangs was an exterior graphics package and dash badge.

They featured a black hood striping with a GT log and funnel cloud insignia and the letters Twister II on the sides of the doors. In 1970 they sold a small amount of Special Twister options.  Inside included an alabaster coaster with the Mustang logo, a bronze dash plate, and a sheet of facts and figures from Ford discussing the promotion. The Twister Special Mustangs were available optioned with creature comforts such as air conditioning, power windows, locks and more.

I think this is a really unique console. Nothing like my 85 GT I owned

Only 90 were sold and 76 were coupes with the other 14 being convertibles. OF the e6 coupes 74 were 5-speeds.  The convertibles only sold five 5-speed manual transmissions. They had the 3.08 gears.\

Notice the Twister II on the side of the door, same wheels, fog lights, hood stripe as a GT.

They came in colors Jalapeno Red (aka Bright Red) (2R), however they were also produced in only three other colors – Oxford White (9L), Medium Canyon Red Metallic (2A) and Silver Metallic (1E)
